While the colors do pop on the beautiful OLED display, the game requires extra patience to play.
Sadly the same cannot be said for the Vita version. Even if you were not the one who committed the crime, the owner of said items still comes for you anyways. Another example has to do with getting accused of stealing. That character will eventually die regardless of your choices. There is a character that has given up a will to live and you have the option of forcing them to come along, or you can leave them behind. Sadly the writers reverted back to some plot ideas that have already been used from Season 1. The lack of direction in Season 2, other than just surviving gives room for some excellent story potential. Seeing how characters change and how they treat you gives a important meaning to what you do. The dynamic between characters and the way that you, as Clementine, can influence the outcome of those interactions feels really grounded in this episode and more meaningful. Starting moments after the dire events that concluded episode 3, we are once again flung back into the harsh world of our consequences. This change of environment is great to keep players engaged and wanting more, but is the reuse of main plot points reason enough to detract from Episode 4 : Amid the Ruins’ story? At the very least it's a noticeable improvement on what I have so far found to be a disappointing second season. When you consider that there's only one episode left this season, and that it will undoubtedly kill off the majority of remaining characters, it makes me worry that the new potential the cast started showing in this episode will end up being wasted. It's just a shame that most of the characters I already enjoyed or just started enjoying either end up dead or leaving before the credits roll. It went a long way to make me actually start caring about it's cast by doing things like trimming it down of the more bland characters. It still doesn't reach the heights the episodes of the first season attained, but overall it's a genuinely good episode. That's okay though, because the numerous tough choices and relationship building moments this episode has were enough to keep me glued to my controller. There are actual hub worlds this time around just like in the first season, but there still aren't any puzzles. It's filled with memorable moments both dark and sad.
